    Why Girls?

Our program continues to empower girls and their freedom to a good education. STEM All Stars is focused towards creating a change on the planet by assisting women to a better education and more opportunities in their communities.  Focusing on girls’ education is particularly vital since they are often underrepresented and because educating a girl creates a unique ripple effect within her family and community. We work one school at a time - mending one problem  still creates a difference.

FACTS WE ALL NEED TO KNOW:

58 million children worldwide are not enrolled in school - the majority of those children are girls. Girls are not only discriminated upon, but they are also victims of slavery, violence, and even death. With education comes more opportunities for women. In poor countries, such as India, a woman is subject to marriage at a very small age because she does not have an education. 1 in 9 girls get married before the age of 15 because parents see her as a burden or they are too poor to take care of her. With education, girls can be more independent, and productive at their work. Studies also show that girls are likely to marry at a later age and have fewer children if they were to get an education. It is a necessity to change the mindsets of people who think that a boy is better off having an education rather than a girl. When trying to expand education for girls, it is important to eliminate barriers that may stand in their way, including:

    Funds Famine

Many girls do not have enough money in order to study and do well at their schools. They lack libraries, electricity, and other resources, which can hinder their chances to completing their education.

    Book Hunger

The computer is just one machine that possesses many beneficial things which we can do to make life easier. In other words, it is all in one. As other rich countries plunge into technology, poor countries are left behind. With technology, people have more awareness about global issues and have easier to access to educational resources. The percentage of students who do not know that Google exists is absurd.

    Lack of Equipment

In addition, most of the schools lack proper equipments such as desks, chairs, and boards. Most importantly, there is an absence of fans and due to high temperatures, which decreases concentration in class. All of these factors contribute to disruptive learning.

    OUR SOLUTIONS INCLUDE 3 MISSIONS:

Mission Technology is driven to purchasing computers and equipping other technology in schools.

Mission Books is driven towards equipping schools with books in appropriate languages.

Mission Awareness and Stereotypes -  Many people lack STEM awareness and do not know the importance of STEM in our world. The main reason are the stereotypes surrounding STEM fields. We do this by running competitions, clubs, and events around the world for middle school girls.
